Leadership Dynamics: The Council of Elders

Guided by the ways of ancient wisdom, ancient tribes would elect a council of 21 elders to provide for its guidance and leadership needs. Not all necessary by age, with the emphasis on those who were wise beyond their years, and those who stood out in a range of contexts, to form a well-balanced assembly that was thereby capable of dealing with the scope of challenges, needs, and exigencies produced by the nature of reality that the tribe was exposed to.

Its first task being the establishment of a state of harmonic union within itself and within the tribe, and a state of peaceful co-existence with neighbouring communities.

Much can be written about the ways and means of such a forum, from how it is elected, to its decision-making processes. But this is kept to an ‘awareness spark’ in this Fulcrum Insight.

Now compare this scenario to the current state of the 21st century, which is at the throes of insane individuals, forcing entire nations to abide by forceful agendas of destructive natures and outcomes.

How can the world return to the ways of wisdom, to electing a modern-day, unifying council of elders that would help it navigate through the most challenging junction in its history – times of radical transition – where it is likely the closest it has ever been to the precipice of self-destruction?

Take a moment to place side by side the scenario of an insane tyrant, next to that of a council of responsible elders, where no one mind can determine the fate of all; being a home for the essence of sensible humility and the search for what it means to be human, tasked to work for the good of all in a human-first, live and let live state of affairs.

How can this be accomplished in a bitterly divided world, awash with mindless inter-cultural hostility? Perhaps the question that needs to be asked is: What kind of miracle is needed to make this happen?

Here is a closer to home question: What is your position in This matter? What do you think?

There is now present a glorious, wide-open window of unprecedented opportunity to develop and evolve – these are the times of everything is possible, proposing each one of us with the freedom to be one’s own person.

Being obsessed with the symptoms of change, such as its technologically driven craze, the world is largely blind to the greater truths in play, which may only be perceived through the inward journey of personal development. This cannot be perceived intellectually. It is a living experience, a knowing-feeling state that follows the moment-by-moment subtle waves of the evolutionary impulse in play.

It is likely that you are amongst those who are living this experience while being unaware of this fact, because the daily grind of living dubs the process of matching subtle feelings to their cause and meaning.

With best wishes
